Ballpark figures, not quotations. Indicative 2026 ranges, rounded, from published South African curtain supplier price lists and installer rate pages, checked September 2026. Per-metre curtain prices are per metre of track width unless stated. Some prices include VAT and some do not, so confirm VAT on every quote. A measure and a written quote set the actual price.

Get Curtain QuotesCommon Curtains by Room
| Room | Common choice | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom | Blockout with a sheer on a double track | Ceiling-fix the track for less edge light |
| Lounge | Lined linen-look or wave curtains | Sheer layer keeps the view by day |
| Sliding door | Wave curtains | Plan which side they stack |
| Double-volume window | Motorised track | Hard to reach by hand |
| Kitchen and bathroom | Short washable sheers | Or consider blinds instead |
Cape Town Conditions Curtain Suppliers Plan For
- Strong sun. Unlined fabrics fade on north- and west-facing glass. Lining protects them.
- Wind. The south-easter blows light curtains through open doors. Weighted hems help.
- Winter damp. Thermal lining and floor-length curtains cut draughts and heat loss.
- Coastal air. Salt air affects some metal tracks and rods near the sea.
- Load-shedding. Mains-powered motorised tracks stop without power. Ask about manual override.
Complexes and Rentals
Some complexes have rules about curtain linings or colours visible from outside. In a rental, get the landlord's permission before drilling. Check what applies before ordering. This is general information, not legal advice.
Choosing Between Curtain Companies
- Compare the same spec. Fabric, lining, heading, fullness and hardware.
- Check what is included. Measuring, making, track or rod, fitting, removal of old curtains and VAT.
- Ask about timing. Lead time for made-to-measure curtains and the fitting date.
- Get payment terms in writing. Deposit, balance and when each is due.
- Check the business. Contact details, photos of recent installs and a reference or two.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does this service work?
You send one enquiry. Relevant independent curtain makers, suppliers and fitters covering your area contact you and quote. You compare and choose, or appoint nobody.
Does it cost anything?
No. Requesting quotes is free and there is no obligation. Your agreement is with the business you appoint.
Do you make or install curtains yourselves?
No. This is a quote-comparison service. Independent curtain businesses measure, quote, make and fit the curtains. There is no showroom.
How much do curtains cost in Cape Town?
As 2026 ballparks, roughly R170 - R240 per metre of track for made-to-measure sheers and R350 - R480 for lined or blockout curtains, before hardware and fitting.
Do I need exact measurements?
No. Rough widths and heights help, but the supplier measures before making anything.
What should I include in my enquiry?
Suburb, the rooms, number of windows, rough sizes, the curtain style if you know it, and photos.
Can I get quotes for fitting curtains I already have?
Yes. Say what you have, send photos and describe the walls or ceilings.
